    Abstract

    The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship of the headmaster’s personality and the school environment towards teachers’ working satisfaction. A total of 127 teachers from four primary schools In Apas zone, Tawau were randomly selected as respondents. This study uses a quantitative approach where data is collected through a questionnaire which was adapted from Scale Big Five Inventory (BFI) and Job Descriptive Index (JDI), which was translated by the Malaysian National Institute of Translation (ITNM). Data was analyzed using computer software Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 17.0. This study was conducted to identify the level of job satisfaction in terms of income, colleagues, school leadership and opportunities for promotion among the teachers. The findings show that the headmasters’ personalities in Apas zone are in a positive stage based on the value of mean score, high stage of school environment and teachers’ job satisfaction. T-test Analysis showed that there were significant differences between teachers' job satisfaction according to their teaching experiences. Teachers who had been teaching more than 20 years have higher level of job satisfaction compared to the teachers who taught for 10 years and below. Based on Pearson’s Correlation Analysis, there was a significant relationship among headmasters’ personalities, the school environment and job satisfaction of teachers.

    Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti hubungan personaliti Guru Besar dan Iklim Sekolah terhadap Kepuasan Kerja Guru Sekolah Rendah. Seramai 127 orang guru dari empat buah Sekolah Rendah Zon Apas, Tawau telah dipilih secara rawak sebagai responden kajian. Kajian ini dijalankan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif yang mana data dikumpul menerusi soal selidik yang telah diadaptasi dari Big Five Inventory Scale (BFI) dan Job Descriptive Index (JDI) yang telah diterjemahkan oleh Institut Terjemahan Negara Malaysia (ITNM). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan perisian komputer Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) Versi 17.0. Kajian ini juga dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti tahap kepuasan kerja guru dari segi pendapatan, rakan sekerja, kepimpinan sekolah dan peluang kenaikan pangkat dalam kalangan guru. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan personaliti dalam kalangan Guru Besar Zon Apas berada pada tahap yang positif berdasarkan nilai skor min yang diperoleh manakala tahap iklim sekolah dan kepuasan kerja guru berada pada tahap tinggi. Analisis ujian-t pula menunjukkan terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan antara kepuasan kerja guru berdasarkan pengalaman mengajar. Kepuasan kerja menunjukkan bahawa guru yang mempunyai pengalaman mengajar lebih dari 20 tahun mempunyai kepuasan bekerja yang lebih tinggi berbanding dengan guru yang mengajar selama 10 tahun dan ke bawah. Berdasarkan analisis korelasi Pearson mendapati bahawa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara personaliti Guru Besar dan Iklim Sekolah terhadap kepuasan kerja guru.
