However, the real potential of cash waqf has not been optimally developed in terms of collection and contribution to the Muslim population in the state of Perak. Cash fund collection is driven by the potential medium of promotion and implementation of waqf projects managed by Wakaf Perak Ar Ridzuan (WPAR). This study aims to discuss the potential of waqf fund collection in four main sectors, namely education, health, economy and religion. This study uses qualitative methodology through a semi-structured interview protocol with officials of the Perak Islamic Religious Council (MAIPk) and agency staff involved in managing cash waqf. In addition, an analysis of the WPAR fund report for the years 2016 to 2021 was also carried out. The study found that five aspects increase the potential of cash fund collection, consisting of the potential of the fund source, the potential of the promotional medium, the potential of the collection medium, the potential of the implementer, and the endowment potential. Implications of the study prove that cash waqf helps in the development of productivity and the benefits of waqf. Thus, management efficiency, innovation of cash waqf products, and integrated cooperation between agencies contribute to the prosperity and sustainability of waqf throughout the country in general and in the state of Perak in particular.
2024-08-19T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Noraini Mohamed, Mohd Zaini Shafiai, Muhammad Akramin Kamarul Zaman, Mohd Noor Daudhttps://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/ALMAKRIFAH/article/view/9194The Prominence and Contributions of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri (Dr) Syeikh Haji Ismail bin Haji Muhammad al-Hafiz in the Field of the Quran2024-03-09T00:58:17+00:00Norsyida Md Zinnorsyidamz@gmail.comMohamad Marzuqi Abdul Rahimnorsyidamz@gmail.com
The prominence of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri (Dr) Syeikh Haji Ismail Haji Muhammad in the field of the Quran cannot be denied. The rulings have been issued, but the question is whether Muslim youth know about the prohibitions of deviant teachings and ideologies that are widely spread in Malaysia now. This study aims to identify the level of understanding of religious rulings on Islamic decree among Muslim youth in Selangor. This study uses a quantitative approach involving the method of review (survey) by utilizing a questionnaire. The instrument was built based on the existing rulings regarding the Islamic decree issued by the Department. There are a total of 1099 young Muslims aged between 17-20 years old who were selected as respondents with stratified group sampling method. The findings indicate that there are items that show the youth have a high level of knowledge of the religious rulings on Islamic decrees, such as issues of Valentine’s Day. Some items indicate a medium level of knowledge among the youth, such as issues on liberalism, secularism, and anti-hadith, and some items indicate a low level of knowledge among them, such as issues related to Hizbut Tahrir and Qadiani. The study implies that the department needs to use a more effective medium for the dissemination of religious ruling knowledge among the Muslim youth who actively use the internet and new social media. This is important to ensure that this group gets accurate current information about religious rulings.
2024-09-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Zanariah Noor, Zuraini Jamil @ Osman, Husna Husain, Noor Banu Mahadir Naiduhttps://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/ALMAKRIFAH/article/view/10025Hamka and the Rise of Kaum Muda (the Modernist) in Indonesia2024-08-08T01:03:04+00:00Ahmad Nabil Amirnabiller2002@yahoo.co.ukTasnim Abdul Rahmannabiller2002@gmail.com
The paper aims to study the historical background of the Islamic reform movement in West Sumatera with particular reference to the idea of Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah or his pseudonym Hamka (1908-1981). His religious ideal was instrumental in driving the new consciousness and unprecedented religious struggle that erupted in the late 20th century in the Malay Archipelago, which reflected the force of modern ideas of Shaykh Muhammad Abduh (1849-1905) that had brought decisive and most significant influence in the region. The reform movement he inaugurated was carried out by Kaum Muda (the young faction) in the Malay Archipelago, who disseminated his dynamic ideas and aspirations through journals and newspapers such as Al-Imam, Al-Munir, and Saudara. One of the leading figures and pioneers in the struggle of Kaum Muda was Haji Rasul and Kiyai Haji Ahmad Dahlan, whose legacy was continued by Hamka, who was celebrated as the foremost advocate of Abduh’s reformist ideas through his influential writing and activity. Therefore, this research analyzes Hamka’s reputed struggle in leading this unprecedented religious movement for reform (islah) and renewal (tajdid) in the Malay world. This research aims to develop his legacy and monumental contribution to the Malay world's history and tradition of reform.
2024-09-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Ahmad Nabil Amir, Tasnim Abdul Rahmanhttps://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/ALMAKRIFAH/article/view/9530Alternative Approaches in Evaluation of Hadith: An Analysis Systematic Literature Review (SLR)2024-05-13T04:08:56+00:00Yuniar Indra Yahyademamaha2021@gmail.comAnisa Khoiril Fadilaanisa.kfadila03@gmail.comAmrulloh Amrullohamrulloh@pps.unipdu.ac.id
The stagnation of hadith evaluation can be overcome by various interdisciplinary approaches as its critical method. It would expand the knowledge of hadith, particularly in the field of hadith criticism, by applying different approaches. Therefore, this study will describe three approaches in assessing the authenticity of hadith: firstly, the approach of jurists (fuqahā'); secondly, through the historical approach; and thirdly, the scientific-rational approach. Through a literature review, this research will present these three topics based on observations made on relevant studies, books and works by scholars related to the topic of discussion. Jurists (fuqahā') only view hadith as part of the Islamic law (shariah). Thus, their evaluation of a hadith leads to only two conclusions: maqbūl, which means it can be practised (ma'mul bih) and mardūd, which cannot be practised. Moreover, the differences in the jurists' evaluation of the reliability of narrators (‘adālah al-ruwāh) are considered more tolerant than the criteria used by hadith scholars. Furthermore, scholars also involve a historical approach to assess the authenticity of a hadith. For example, this is done by Jonathan Brown with his three-tiered method or by Sādah al-Ghumariyyīn through critical analysis and comparison of classical texts. Besides, al-Idlibi offers the scientific-rational approach to evaluate the authenticity of hadith. In conclusion, these three approaches, which are the jurist's approach, the historical approach and the scientific-rational approach, contribute to assessing the authenticity of hadith, thus enriching the field of hadith criticism with diverse methodologies.
2024-10-17T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Yuniar Indra Yahya, Anisa Khoiril Fadila, Amrullohhttps://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/ALMAKRIFAH/article/view/9564The Implementation of Integrated Islamic Education (IIE) in Malaysian Islamic Religious Secondary Schools from Education Administrators’ Perspectives2024-06-03T16:03:09+00:00Ibrahim Hashimibrahim@fsk.upsi.edu.mySulaiman Dorlohibrahim@fsk.upsi.edu.my
This study is based on the premise that there is a need for an integrated Islamic education (IIE) curriculum that could develop the whole person of Muslim children. It examines the school administrators and educational officers’ views on the key aspects related to the effectiveness of the implementation of the IIE curriculum, such as the understanding of the IIE’s concept and the teaching and assessment techniques of IIE. The study is using qualitative method; it employed interviews with 12 respondents from the National Religious Secondary School (SMKA) and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) schools and two educational officers. The findings identified that Islamic education school administrators have positive attitudes towards IIE, have adequate knowledge of the integrated concept of Islamic education and highly encourage their teachers to use various pedagogical methods in teaching IIE. The findings also indicate that the schools have implemented a systematic assessment for students’ academic achievement, but only some schools have assessed the behavioural aspects of their students. Despite these positive results, the study reveals a few problems in implementing IIE, such as exam-oriented trends and the inadequacy of professionally certified teachers in some schools, which could hinder its effectiveness.
2024-10-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Ibrahim Hashim, Sulaiman Dorlohhttps://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/ALMAKRIFAH/article/view/9721The Implementation of the Quran and Ibadah Therapy Education Program Among Autistic Students at Ar-Rayyan Quran Academy2024-06-20T01:15:28+00:00Ahmad Zulfiqar Shah Abdul Hadizulfiqar@fsk.upsi.edu.myMasturina Zulkifelizulfiqar@fsk.upsi.edu.my
The Al-Quran and Worship Therapy Education Program for autistic students is an initiative aimed at helping them understand and appreciate the teachings of the Al-Quran and worship. It focuses on the cognitive, emotional, and spiritual development of autistic students using methods tailored to their abilities and special needs. Children on the autism spectrum often encounter challenges in traditional learning, including religious education. Therefore, this study explores the implementation, approach, and effectiveness of strategies used for autistic children in the Al-Quran Therapy and Worship Education Program at Al-Quran Ar-Rayyan Academy (AQR). The study employed a qualitative method with a case study design, gathering data through in-depth interviews with Al-Quran teachers experienced in teaching children with autism and direct observation in specialized classes. The data was thematically analyzed based on patterns and challenges. The findings indicate that implementing the Al-Quran and Worship Therapy Education Program at AQR positively impacts students despite the difficulties teachers and the school face. Individualized approaches, the use of technology, and visualization techniques can enhance autistic children's understanding and engagement in learning the Al-Quran and worship. Moreover, family support and a nurturing social environment ensure successful learning outcomes. The study underscores the importance of specific training to enhance teachers' pedagogical skills and teaching methods and adequate resources to establish an inclusive learning setting. With the correct application of strategies, autistic children can achieve significant progress in their religious understanding and practice, enabling them to live a more meaningful spiritual life.
2024-10-20T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Ahmad Zulfiqar Shah bin Abdul Hadi, Masturina Binti Zulkifelihttps://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/ALMAKRIFAH/article/view/9727Challenges of Visually Impaired Students (OKUMP) in Learning the Knowledge of Qiraat at Darul Quran, Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM)2024-06-19T01:59:19+00:00Noraini Farhanah IsmailM20212003406@siswa.upsi.edu.myAbd Rahman Abd Ghaniabdrahmanghani@fsk.upsi.edu.my
Visually Impaired Students (OKUMP) Darul Quran, JAKIM, is a group that studies the science of Qiraat.
