Abstract

This study is conducted to improve the writing skills of the Polytechnic students. 30 semester two students from Diploma in Mechanical Engineering were involved in this study. The collection of data was done through the administration of a questionnaire, pre- test, post-test and interviews. The given pre-test showed that about seventy percent of the students did not achieve the desired passing mark which was 50 percent. A number of problems have been identified as the main causes for the students to fail in this written test. The administered treatment has resulted in a significance increase in the quality of the report presented. 70 percent of the students scored more than 65 percent in the given post-test. In addition to that, the report also showed a very minimal number of mistakes done by the students.
