Kajian tinjauan literatur mengenai peranan Pokok Gurah (Sapium Indicum) dalam pengurangan risiko banjir kilat di Kedah dan Kelantan, Malaysia

Banjir kilat merupakan salah satu bencana alam yang kerap berlaku di Malaysia dan negeri-negeri seperti Kedah dan Kelantan adalah tidak terkecuali menghadapi fenomena ini saban tahun. Bencana alam ini sering dikaitkan dengan perubahan guna tanah yang tidak terkawal, degradasi hutan riparian, dan perubahan iklim yang menyebabkan peningkatan kadar hujan luar biasa. Pokok riparian seperti pokok gurah (Sapium indicum) mempunyai keupayaan menyerap air berlebihan, menstabilkan struktur tanah di tebing sungai, dan mengurangkan kadar hakisan, menjadikannya elemen penting dalam pengurusan ekosistem sungai secara mampan. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menilai peranan pokok gurah dalam mengurangkan risiko banjir kilat di Kedah dan Kelantan serta menganalisis kesannya terhadap kestabilan tebing sungai dan kawalan ekosistem sungai. Selain itu, kajian ini juga menekankan kepentingan dasar pemantauan dan intervensi pengurusan bagi mengawal spesies invasif yang boleh menjejaskan keseimbangan ekosistem sungai. Pendekatan Kajian Tinjauan Literatur digunakan dalam kajian ini bagi mengumpul dan menganalisis data berkaitan peranan pokok gurah dalam ekosistem sungai dan pengurangan risiko banjir kilat. Proses tinjauan literatur dijalankan dengan menggunakan pangkalan data akademik seperti Scopus, Web of Science (WoS), Google Scholar, dan ScienceDirect, yang merangkumi jurnal ilmiah, laporan bencana, dan kajian kes berkaitan banjir kilat di Kedah dan Kelantan. Kriteria pemilihan artikel berdasarkan kata kunci tertentu seperti “pokok riparian”, “banjir kilat”, “pengurusan ekosistem sungai”, dan “kestabilan tebing sungai” bagi memastikan kerelevanan dan keberkesanan dapatan kajian. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa pokok gurah memainkan peranan penting dalam meningkatkan kadar infiltrative air, mengekalkan kestabilan tebing sungai, serta mengurangkan kadar hakisan dan sedimentasi. Selain itu, pemuliharaan spesies ini berpotensi untuk meningkatkan keberkesanan pengurusan banjir secara holistik, selaras dengan pendekatan pengurusan alam sekitar yang mampan. Oleh itu, strategi pemuliharaan dan pemantauan pokok riparian perlu diberi perhatian dalam perancangan dan pengurusan sungai bagi mengurangkan impak banjir kilat di kawasan berisiko tinggi.
