For that, an effort been taking to design a test battery specifically for students with visually-impaired. Purpose of the study was to investigate the differences of fitness level on fitness test protocols on students with visual impairments. For the preliminary study, a total of thirty students (N=30) were selected where 14 were females and 16 were male students aged between 13 to 19 years old and all the participants currently are studying at Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas (cacat penglihatan) Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. The participants were divided into three (3) groups based on the visual impairments classes which are B1, B2 and B3. Therefore, B1 had 12 participants, B2 had 15 participants and B3 had three (3) participants. All the participants were tested with the fitness tests that are a) one-mile run/walk test, b) curl up test, c) isometric push up test and d) sit and reach test. The results revealed that there was no significant difference in BMI, isometric push up, curl up, one-mile run/walk and sit and reach (p > 0.05). In a conclusion, a test battery needs to be designed for students with disabilities especially students with visually-impaired.
Nagoor Meera Abdullah, Siti Nurfarahah Mt Desa, Asiah Mohd Pilus, Wahidah Tumijan, Mohamad Nizam Mohamed Shapie ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/JPB/article/view/3306 Thu, 13 Feb 2020 02:01:31 +0000 A qualitative case study on handling electronic media-exposed kindergarten children: Challenges and strategies https://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/JPB/article/view/3307
According to thestaronline.com on 10th August 2016, there seems to be a growing concern on the extensive usage of electronic media by young children in Malaysia. The purpose of this research was to analyze the methods adopted by schools in introducing intervention measures to these children. A qualitative case study approach was adapted for this research, with 3 participants, sampled through purposeful sampling. A triangulation method was adopted where data was collected through semi structure interviews, various levels of observations and examination of existing datas to generate qualitative themes. The themes found from this research were children’s executive function, role and responsibilities of the school, role and responsibilities of other stakeholders and the cause and effects of the interventions. The study found that awareness needs to be created among young parents on the tolerable level of gadget exposure. Wider dissemination of knowledge and information about the proper use of the electronic devices shall be another effort that need to be given attention. Diagnosing the cause early could also help children in getting early interventions by the school and parents while getting the necessary medical treatment.

Abstract

The experimental study with factorial design 2 X 2 was aimed to identify the effect of history learning based on the analysis of the text sources on intrinsic motivation based on critical thinking skills. This study involved a total of 111 Form Four students from two secondary schools in a state in the north of Peninsular Malaysia. The adapted thinking test and Intrinsic Motivation Inventory questionnaire which has been verified by content expert and has good reliability value were instrument in this study. The data of this study were analyzed descriptively and inferred such as Independent Sample t-Test and the Two-Way ANOVA Test. The findings showed that there is a significant mean difference in intrinsic motivation between experimental groups and control groups. The findings also showed that there are significant mean differencein intrinsic motivation for students of high critical thinking skills (KBKT) between experimental groups and control groups. However, the findings alsoindicated that there is no significant mean difference in intrinsic motivation for students of low critical thinking skills (KBKR) between experimental groups and control groups. Furthermore, the findings also found that there was a significant interaction effect between the teaching method and the students' critical thinking skills toward intrinsic motivation. The study is expected to serve as a source of reference to history teachers in planning the innovative teaching and learning activities by using text sources with give attention to the characteristics of the students’ cognitive and thinking.

Keywords: Text sources analysis, factorial study, critical thinking skills, intrinsicmotivation
M Kaviza ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/JPB/article/view/2059 Fri, 27 Mar 2020 00:00:00 +0000 The antecedents of subjective well-being of Javanese paramedics: The indigenous study https://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/JPB/article/view/2058
Regarding the Indonesia government’s program namely leading to the Healthy Indonesia to the year 2025, a study in 2016 showed that the paramedics with the Javanese ethnic background demanding increase on welfare. Whereas, the Javanese paramedics were well-known to hold the role of harmony which tended to avoid conflict and they are obedient and tolerant. Subjective wellbeing (SWB) becomes one of the important factors that can determine and increase the welfare. It is very important to investigate the antecedents of SWB among Javanese Paramedics to enhance their performance. This research is a qualitative study with interview to 15 Javanese paramedics that consisted of 11 woman and 4 man paramedics in the Health Office of Yogyakarta. The interview transcript was classified by three academics of psychology who understood the Javanese culture. Then, they were calculated to notice which antecedents that would have the big effect. The results indicated that there was difference between the antecedents of SWB in the previous research and the antecedents of SWB in Javanese Paramedics. The antecedent subjective well-being is divided into four categories, i.e. physical, psychics, social and religiosity. Woman tends more on instrumental values while man tends more on terminal values. This result will help the Health Department of Yogyakarta to make an appropriate intervention for their paramedics to increase SWB.

Alimatus Sahrah, Reny Yuniasanti ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/JPB/article/view/2058 Fri, 27 Mar 2020 00:00:00 +0000 Garis panduan guru: Pelaksanaan amalan zikir bagi kanak-kanak bermasalah tingkah laku agresif Berpandukan kanak-kanak autisma https://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/JPB/article/view/3114
NoorFarah Asmira Abdul Malek ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/JPB/article/view/3114 Mon, 06 Apr 2020 09:11:14 +0000
