This study uses a survey study design with quantitative approach. Data collection from the population of this study was done by using a questionnaire involving all 56 principals in rural schools in Sabah. The Creative Personality Test questionnaire developed by Eugene Raudsepp was used to measure the level of creativity and the driving factors of creativity. The five driving factors of principals’ creativity measured in the study were the factors of knowledge, thinking style, personality, motivation, and environmental condition.. Data analysis showed that principals’ creativity was at a high level (M = 4.56, SP = .10), as well as the driving factors of principals’ creativity (M = 4.25, SP = 0.21). Environmental factors are the main driving factors for creativity among secondary school principals in the interior of Sabah. Pearson correlation test showed the existence of a significant positive relationship at the moderate level between the level of creativity of principals and school performance (r = 0.347, p = .009). Meanwhile the driving factor of principals’ creativity had a significant positive but weak relationship with school performance (r = 0.132, p = .002). The implications of the study suggest that several factors in the driving factors of principals’ creativity need to be improved. In addition, efforts to foster creativity among school administrators need to be strengthened so that school performance can be improved.</p>}, number={1}, journal={Management Research Journal}, author={Tuin, Suntik and Syed Mohamad, Syed Ismail and Ishak, Rosnah}, year={2022}, month={Mar.}, pages={13–21} }
