Changes in the results of this general election are certainly influenced by the tendency of voters to vote for parties or candidates who are able to benefit the community. In terms of electoral geography, the Manjoi and Behrang state assembly consists of urban, semi-urban and rural areas that have 18 and 20 voting district centers respectively. This area consists of ethnic Malays, Chinese, Indians and others. Thus, this study analyzes the tendencies of voters during the 14th GE in Manjoi and Behrang State Assembly by using the framework of rational choice theory to evaluate the factors related to respondents' choices. In order to achieve the objective of the study, a quantitative approach using questionnaire instruments was distributed face-to-face to a total of 450 voters in the area. Secondary sources are also used to support the findings. Quantitative data was analyzed descriptively using SPSS software in tabular form. The results of the study found that the voter's choice of party, economic and candidate factors was significant to the change in the election results in Manjoi and Behrang. Candidate choice is seen as dominant in influencing voter decisions during the 14th GE. It is clear that the respondents in Manjoi and Behrang have given the opportunity and chosen candidates who are believed to be able to improve local development to a better level than the administration before the 14th GE.
2024-11-12T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Nurul Wahida Ismail, Siti Noranizahhafizah Boymanhttps://ejournal.upsi.edu.my/index.php/PERS/article/view/10014Capacity Building of People with Physical Disabilities (KOKUF): A community Development Perspective in Malaysia2024-08-15T01:59:48+00:00Muhammad Nadzir Ibrahimnadzir@fsk.upsi.edu.myNobaya Ahmadnadzir@fsk.upsi.edu.myAmna Md Noornadzir@fsk.upsi.edu.myMohd. Roslan Rosnonnadzir@fsk.upsi.edu.my
Community development is a process that requires comprehensive action. One of the concepts focused on is community capacity building, which has various dimensions. In Malaysia, the study of community development, especially when linked to the community of disabled people (KOKU), still has a lot of room for exploration. The study specifically aims at the concept of community capacity building, which has not yet been comprehensively studied, especially for the community of people with physical disabilities (KOKUF). For KOKUF who have gained exposure through skills programs, the selection of certain dimensions of community capacity building is the best way to assess the extent of community development that has occurred among these communities. Therefore, appropriate and accurate dimensions are important so that the study of KOKUF achieves its true purpose in evaluating the process and results of community capacity building. Five main dimensions are focused on in the process and results of KOKUF capacity building. The first dimension is learning opportunities and skill development, which includes identifying knowledge gaps and providing opportunities for skill improvement. The second dimension is resource mobilization, referring to KOKUF's ability to identify and access internal and external resources such as community members, external parties, time, funds, and facilities to improve KOKUF's capabilities. The third dimension is partnership, relationship, and network, which emphasizes KOKUF's interaction with fellow community members and external parties based on collaboration, strengthening bonds, and building confidence to improve KOKUF's capabilities. The fourth dimension is the asset-based approach, focusing on the knowledge, skills, and talents possessed by KOKUF, with an assessment of how these assets benefit and improve KOKUF's life. The final dimension is community feeling, which evaluates the positive perceptions among members regarding trust and cooperation, reflecting their willingness to act together for the well-being of the community.
2024-11-12T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Muhammad Nadzir Ibrahim, Nobaya Ahmad, Amna Md Noor, Mohd.
