Problems and Solutions in The Practice of Teaching Tamil in The Context of Globalisation

Abstract

இந்த ஆய்வானது பூகோளமயமாதல் பின்புலத்தில் உலகளாவிய ரீதியில் ஏற்பட்டு வருகின்ற மாற்றங்கள் எவ்வாறு தமிழ் மொழியையும் அதன் வழக்காறுகளையும் பண்பாட்டு அடிப்படைகளையும் பாதிக்கிறது என்பது குறித்தும், அத்தகைய சவால்களிலிருந்து தமிழ் மொழியை கற்றல்-கற்பித்தல் செயற்பாடுகளின் மூலம் எவ்வாறு பாதுகாப்பது என்பது குறித்தும், அதற்கான கோட்பாடு மற்றும் நடைமுறை சார்ந்த சிந்தனைகள் குறித்தும் ஆராய்வதாக அமைகிறது. உலகளாவிய ரீதியில் பரந்து வாழும் தொல்பழம் இனக்குழுக்களுள் ஒன்றாக தமிழ் இனம் விளங்குகிறது. வரலாற்று வளர்ச்சியில் நோக்கும்போது அரசியல், சமூக, பொருளாதார, பண்பாடு மற்றும் கலை-இலக்கிய ரீதியாக வளமான சமூகமாக இருப்பதுடன், அரசற்ற இனம் என்ற துயரத்திற்கும் ஆளாகியுள்ளது. தென்னாசியாவிலேயே மொழியில் தன் அடையாளத்தை நிலைநிறுத்திக்கொண்ட பெருமைக்குரிய மொழியாகவும் தமிழ் விளங்குகிறது. ஆனால் உலகமயமாதல் பின்புலத்தில் நிகழ்நிலைகளின் மாற்றங்கள் அதன் இருப்பு பற்றிய கேள்விகளை உருவாக்கிவிடுகின்றன. மொழியியல் மற்றும் பண்பாட்டுக் கோட்பாட்டை அடிப்படையாகக்கொண்டு மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் பண்பு சார்ந்த இந்த ஆய்வானது, உலகமயமாதல் காரணமாக தமிழ்மொழி எதிர்நோக்கும் சவால்களை அடையாளம் கண்டு, அவற்றை எதிர்கொள்வதற்கான கோட்பாடு மற்றும் பிரயோக நிலைப்பட்ட திட்டங்களை உருவாக்குவதுடன், தமிழ் மொழியும் பண்பாடும் குறித்த தேசிய சிந்தனையை கட்டியெழுப்புவதையும் பிரதான நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது.

This study examines how the changes brought about by globalisation at the worldwide level affect the Tamil language, its customs and cultural foundations; investigates how Tamil can be safeguarded from such challenges through teaching and learning activities; and explores the theoretical and practical thinking necessary to achieve this. The Tamil people constitute one of the ancient ethnic communities dispersed across the world. Viewed through the lens of historical development, Tamils represent a community rich in political, social, economic, cultural, and literary dimensions, yet one that has also endured the sorrow of statelessness, while Tamil stands as a language of distinction that has established its identity through its linguistic heritage in South Asia. However, the transformations arising in the current context of globalisation raise fundamental questions about the very existence of this language and the danger of its losing or being divested of its linguistic identity. The study is grounded in linguistic and cultural theory, and employs a qualitative approach. It aims to identify the challenges faced by Tamil in survival and teaching under conditions of globalisation, to develop theoretical and applied programmes to address those challenges, and to build a national consciousness around the Tamil language and its cultural heritage.
