Abstract

இக்கட்டுரையின் நோக்கம் பண்டைய தமிழா்களின் விஞ்ஞான பாரம்பரிய அறிவைக் குறிப்பாகச் சங்க இலக்கியத்தில் தொடர்புபடுத்துவதாகும். தமிழ்மொழி தொன்மையான மொழிகளில் ஒன்றாகும். பண்டைய தமிழா்கள் பருவகால மாற்றம், கிரக இயக்கம், மழை முறை போன்றவற்றைப் பற்றி மிகத் துல்லியமாகக் கணித்துள்ளனா் என்பதனைச் சங்க இலக்கியங்களின் வாயிலாக அறியலாம். அறிவியல் என்பது பகுத்தறியும் அறிவு. பொருள்களின் இயல்பு நிலையில் உள்நிற்கும் ஒழுங்கினை ஆராய்ந்து பிாித்தறியும் இயல் அறிவியல். அறிவுத்துறைக்குட்பட்ட, கட்டமைக்கப்பட்ட, ஆய்வு செய்து கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்ட அனைத்தும் அறிவியலின் உள்ளடக்கமாகும். அந்த வகையில் அறிவியல் துறையானது இன்று பல்வேறு பிாிவுகளாக வளா்ச்சியுறுவதற்கும் அறிவியல் சிந்தனைகள் வேரூன்றுவதற்கும் வித்தாக அமைந்தவை பண்டைத் தமிழிலக்கியங்கள் ஆகும். பண்டைத் தமிழா்கள் அறிவியல் துறைகளைத் தனித்தனி கலைகளாக வளா்த்துள்ளமைக்கும், அறிவியல் அறிவு பெற்றிருந்தமைக்கும் சங்க இலக்கியங்களே சான்று பகா்கின்றன. கோள்களின் இயக்கங்கள், வானிலை மாற்றங்களை அறிந்து கொள்ளும் திறன் போன்ற சிந்தனைகளைச் சங்க இலக்கியப் பாடல்களிலிருந்து வெளிக்கொணா்வதே இக்கட்டுரையின் முதன்மை நோக்கமாக அமைகின்றது.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to correlate the scientific traditional knowledge of Tamil people especially in the field of Universe in Sangam Literature. Tamil language is one of the oldest languages, the ancient people depicted very accurately about seasonal change, planetary motion, rainfall pattern etc., they had scientific knowledge which are evidenced from the Sangam Literature. The Science is rational Knowledge. The science of physics that explores the order in which objects exist. Everything that is intellectual, structured, researched and discovered is the content of Science. In that sense, the field of science today is evolving into a variety of disciplines and the roots of scientific thought are the ancient Tamil literature. The Sangam literature attests to the fact that the ancient Tamils developed the fields of science into separate arts and acquired scientific knowledge. The purpose of this article is to explore ideas such a planetary motion and the ability to perceive climate change from Sangam literature.
