Clean Water Usage in Car Wash Services in Tanjong Malim,Perak and Hulu Bernam, Selangor

Abstract

Our nation is experiencing shortage of clean water supply due to increasing river pollution. However, the awareness of the this situation is still low and people take indifference attitude towards this problem in the context of wasting domestic water supply, especially water usage in the car wash industry. This study was conducted to identify the water wasted by from car wash operations. The study was conducted by interviewing car wash operators, observation of water usage and estimating the quantity of water used during car wash operation. The study found that 10 out of 12 car wash operatorsused domestic water supply for their operation. Two operators illegally used domestic water supply for their operation. Normal practice of using unnecessary volume of water and irresponsible in water usage should be noted. This needs to be addressed quickly to ensure the supply of clean water for domestic is used properly and prudently.
