Abstract

Agenda TVET semakin mendapat tumpuan kerajaan. Prinsip Artikulasi Program TVET yang diperkenalkan oleh Agensi Kelayakan Malaysia (MQA) baru-baru ini membuka lembaran baharu terhadap sistem pendidikan negara. Amnya prinsip ini telah menyatukan penilaian kemahiran industri dan akademik sekaligus membenarkan mobiliti pelajar antara semua penyedia TVET di Malaysia. Artikel ini membincangkan kesinambungan program TVET daripada peringkat persekolahan, lepasan menengah sehingga ke peringkat pendidikan tinggi dengan matlamat untuk meningkatkan tarikan TVET sebagai laluan pendidikan pilihan. Skop perbincangan mengaitkan pertalian antara keperluan industri, penawaran program di IPT dan kebolehpasaran graduan. Persoalan yang cuba dijawab adalah, (a) adakah penawaran program TVET di IPT sejajaran dengan keperluan industri, (b) apakah alternatif bagi menyokong perubahan dalam industri? Amnya, kebolehpasaran lulusan TVET adalah lebih tinggi berbanding Universiti Awam dan IPTS. Lulusan TVET mempunyai pelbagai pilihan untuk melanjutkan pengajian ke peringkat tertinggi di IPT. Cabarannya adalah untuk  membangunkan proses penilaian bagi pensetaraan kemahiran industri dan akademik lulusan TVET. IPT disaran merebut peluang kehadiran lulusan TVET bagi memperkaya kurikulum dan mencetus inovasi teknologi tinggi yang diperlukan di industri.
