Abstract

Teladan yang positif terhadap alam sekitar sepatutnya diikuti. Artikel ini bertujuan mengenal pasti hubungan antara teladan ibu bapa dengan kesedaran responden murid terhadap alam sekitar. Kajian ini dijalankan dengan menggunakan kaedah soal selidik ke atas masing-masing 225 orang responden murid dan ibu bapa. Ujian korelasi dilaksanakan untuk menentukan kewujudan hubungan teladan ibu bapa terhadap alam sekitar dengan tingkah laku responden murid terhadap alam sekitar. Hasil kajian menunjukkan wujud hubungan tidak signifikan antara laporan kendiri responden murid dengan pandangan responden ibu bapa tentang tingkah laku responden murid terhadap alam sekitar (r=.121, p>.05), wujud hubungan positif dan signifikan antara taraf pendidikan ibu bapa dan teladan responden ibu bapa dengan tingkah laku responden murid terhadap alam sekitar masing-masing (r=.192**, p<.05) dan (r=.427**, p<.05). Kesimpulannya, ibu bapa sebagai pihak berkepentingan merupakan antara pihak yang mampu mempengaruhi tingkah laku anak terhadap alam sekitar.

This study aims to identify the relationship between role model shown by parents with pupil awareness towards the environment. This research was conducted using questionaires on 225 pupils and their parents. The correlation test was carried out to determine the existence of parental role model relationships to the environment with the pupil behaviour towards the environment. The study showed no significant relationship between the pupil’s self-reporting compared to parent’s reports about their pupil’s behaviour on environment (r=.121, p>. 05), a positive and significant relationship between level of parental education and parental role model with the pupil’s behaviour towards the environment respectively (r=.192 **, p<.05) and (r=.427**, p<.05). In conclusion, parents as stakeholders are among the influential parties who are able to influence children’s behaviour towards the environment.
