A Study on Enhancing Fluency in Descriptive Speech Among Form 1 Students through 'TamilTalk' App Using Bloom's Taxonomy Approach

Abstract

இந்த ஆராய்ச்சியின் நோக்கம், படிவம் 1 மாணவர்களை மிகவும் சரளமாக விளக்கமாகப் பேச ஈடுபடுத்துவதில் ‘தமிழ் பேச்சு’ APP இன் செயல்திறனை மதிப்பிடுவதாகும். ப்ளூமின் வகைபிரித்தல் நிலைகள் 2, 3 மற்றும் 5 - புரிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள், பயன்படுத்தவும் மற்றும் மதிப்பிடவும் - அடிப்படையில் செயல்பாடுகள் நடத்தப்பட்டன. இந்த பயன்பாட்டின் மூலம் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு புள்ளியை எவ்வாறு விவரிப்பது என்பது குறித்த மாணவர்களின் புரிதலை அதிகரிப்பதும், அவர்கள் தங்களை எவ்வளவு தெளிவாகவும் திறம்படவும் வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார்கள் என்பதைச் சரிபார்ப்பதும் ஆய்வின் மிக முக்கியமான இலக்காகும். விளக்கங்களின் மிக முக்கியமான மொழி அம்சங்கள் மற்றும் பேசும் போது அவற்றின் நடைமுறை பயன்பாடு, அத்துடன் சுய மற்றும் சகா மதிப்பீடு பற்றிய புரிதலை வளர்க்கும் வீடியோக்கள், குறிப்புகள், பயிற்சிகள், மாணவர்களின் மதிப்பெண்கள் மற்றும் ஆசிரியர்களின் ஆக்கபூர்வமான கருத்துகள் மூலம் மாணவர்கள் ஊடாடும் வகையில் சுய பயிற்சி செய்கிறார்கள். ப்ளூமின் உயர் வரிசை சிந்தனைத் திறன்களைப் பயன்படுத்தும் இத்தகைய பயன்பாடு, விமர்சன சிந்தனை, வெளிப்பாடு மற்றும் அறிவாற்றல் திறன்களை வளர்க்கும் திறனைக் கொண்டுள்ளது மற்றும் மாணவர்கள் தெளிவாகவும் நம்பிக்கையுடனும் தொடர்பு கொள்ளும் திறனை மேம்படுத்துகிறது. முன்-போஸ்ட் பேச்சுத் தேர்வு முடிவுகள், மாணவர்கள் விளக்கமான பேச்சு மற்றும் சுய மதிப்பீட்டின் அமைப்பு மற்றும் விநியோகத்தில் முன்னேற்றத்தைக் காட்டியுள்ளனர் என்பதை விளக்குகின்றன. பேச்சு சரளத்தையும் மொழி கையகப்படுத்தலையும் மேம்படுத்துவதில் ப்ளூமின் வகைபிரித்தல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப கருவிகளை இணைப்பதன் முக்கியத்துவத்தை இந்த கண்டுபிடிப்புகள் வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றன, ஆனால் மிக முக்கியமாக, வழக்கமான கற்பித்தல் முறைகளை விட தொழில்நுட்பத்தைப் பயன்படுத்துவதன் மூலம் இளம் கற்பவர்களை எவ்வாறு தகவல் தொடர்பு திறன் வளர்க்க முடியும் என்பதை இது தீர்மானிக்கிறது.

The aim of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of the ‘TamilTalk’ APP in engaging Form 1 students to descriptively talk in a more fluent manner.  Activities were conducted based on Bloom's Taxonomy Levels 2, 3, and 5 – Understand, Apply and Evaluate. The most important target of the study was to increase students’ understanding of how to describe a point given through this app and check how clearly and effectively they express themselves. Students interactively self-practice through the videos, notes, exercises, students’ scores and teachers’ constructive feedback that foster an understanding of the most important language features of descriptors and their practical usage during speaking, as well as self and peer evaluation. Such an app that leverages Bloom’s higher order thinking skills has the potential to develop critical thinking, articulation and cognitive skills and advances the ability of students to communicate clearly and confidently.  Pre-post speaking test results illustrated that students demonstrated improvement in the organization and delivery of the descriptive speech and self-assessment. These findings reveal the importance of combining Bloom’s Taxonomy and technological tools in improving speech fluency and language acquisition but more importantly, it determines how communication skills can foster young learners through the use of technology over conventional teaching methods.
