Abstract

The leadership style of the principal or headmaster can influence the success of the school as a learning organization and work performance among teachers in the school. The attitude of the school leaders towards capacity building and the potential of teacher leadership capable of making collaboration in solving school problems should be given attention. School leadership should always be dynamic and innovative to fill the community's expectations and the challenges of the country's future. The principal's duties in the school are not limited to administrative work alone, but he also needs to be the mobilizer of all resources under his supervision. Traditional leadership that was previously patterned in bureaucratic hierarchy should be replaced by a distributive leadership style that emphasizes on teams, groups and organizational characteristics. This article aims to discuss the theoretical framework of the study on the relationship of distributive leadership practices and learning organizations among principals on teachers' work performance in ordinary secondary schools in Sarawak based on distributive leadership theory.
