Kajian ini berkisar tentang Komoditi Getah Semasa Zaman Kemelesetan Ekonomi Dunia di Kedah pada tahun 1929 sehingga 1939. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kemajuan ekonomi pertanian getah di Kedah dalam tempoh zaman kemelesetan dalam tahun 1929 sehingga tahun 1939. Fokus kajian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh kemelesetan ekonomi terhadap kehidupan sosial masyarakat Kedah. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dalam menganalisis dan mentafsir maklumat sebelum membuat penulisan sejarah. Perbincangan di dalam penulisan ini adalah berasaskan sumber primer dan sumber sekunder yang diperolehi daripada laman web berautoriti seperti Singapore Government Agency Website, National Archives of Australia dan Online Finding Aid (OFA), Perpustakaan Tunku Bainun, UPSI, Perpustakaan Negara, Kuala Lumpur, Arkib Negara cawangan Kedah/Perlis dan Arkib Pusat, Kuala Lumpur. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan kemelesetan ekonomi dunia menyebabkan ketidakstabilan perkembangan getah di negeri Kedah. Kemelesetan ini memberikan kesan langsung dan tidak langsung bukan sahaja terhadap industri getah tetapi juga terhadap kehidupan sosial masyarakat. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan sumbangan pengetahuan baru dan mengisi jurang kajian berkaitan perkembangan getah di Kedah dan kesannya pada zaman kemelesetan ekonomi dunia.
