Abstract

Sistem penerbitan moden yang menyediakan perkhidmatan indeks makalah penyelidikan dalam pangkalan data Scopus pada dasarnya memberi cabaran besar kepada perkembangan bahasa Melayu. Dengan adanya sistem ini, penerbitan jurnal yang diindeks Scopus semakin didominasi oleh makalah berbahasa Inggeris. Kajian bibliometrik ini dijalankan untuk menganalisis pola penerbitan makalah berbahasa Melayu dalam Scopus bagi tempoh lima tahun, (2013-2018) dan mengenal pasti potensi penerbitan makalah berbahasa Melayu dalam Scopus melalui jumlah petikan sitasi dan H-Indeks. Data dimuat turun daripada pangkalan data indeks Scopus menggunakan carian bahasa (Malay Language). Kajian bibliometrik ini menggunakan keputusan analisis yang dipaparkan dalam laman sesawang Scopus. Dapatan memperlihatkan dalam tempoh lima tahun, penerbitan makalah berbahasa Melayu dalam jurnal yang diindeks Scopus menunjukkan peningkatan dari aspek bilangan penerbitan, iaitu 803 makalah berbanding jumlah keseluruhan makalah, iaitu 1063 makalah. Manakala analisis prestasi IPT di Malaysia memperlihatkan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) merupakan antara IPT yang terlibat aktif dalam usaha menggalakkan penerbitan makalah berbahasa Melayu, iaitu sebanyak 503 makalah telah diterbitkan dan diindeks Scopus berbanding dengan IPT lain di negara ini. Selain itu, kajian ini juga membuktikan bahawa penerbitan makalah berbahasa Melayu dalam Scopus mencakupi semua disiplin ilmu dan tidak terhad kepada bidang sains sosial semata-mata tetapi merentasi juga bidang sains dan teknologi. Analisis prestasi penerbitan juga menunjukkan potensi penerbitan makalah berbahasa Melayu yang memberangsangkan melalui peningkatan jumlah petikan sitasi dan H-Indeks dalam tempoh lima tahun tersebut. Kajian ini diharap dapat memberikan gambaran sebenar tentang penerbitan makalah berbahasa Melayu dalam Scopus dan dapat membina kesedaran dari pihak penerbit dan penulis untuk meningkatkan penerbitan makalah berbahasa Melayu agar bahasa Melayu dapat berada di persada antarabangsa setanding dengan penerbitan dalam lain-lain bahasa terutamanya bahasa Inggeris.

ABSTRACT

Rapid advances in the field of information technology and libraries have created a modern publishing system that provides index papers research services in the Scopus database. This modern publishing system, in essence, challenges the development of the Malay language. With the advent of this system, the publication of papers in the journal indexed by Scopus is increasingly dominated by English-language papers. This bibliometric study was conducted to analyze the pattern of publication of Malay papers in Scopus for a period of five years, (2013-2018) and to identify the potential publication of Malay papers in Scopus by volume of citations and H-Index. The data is downloaded from the Scopus index database using language search (Malay Language). This bibliometric study uses the results of the analysis presented on the Scopus website. The results showed in the last five years the publication of Malay-language papers in the journals indexed by Scopus showed an increase in terms of number of publications, 803 compared to the total number of 1063. While the analysis shows the performance of higher education institutions in Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) is among the institutions that are actively involved in promoting the Malay-language publication papers, totaling 503 papers have been published and indexed by Scopus compared with other universities in the country. In addition, this study also proves that Malay-language publication papers in the Scopus embraces all disciplines and is not limited to the social sciences but also across the fields of science and technology. The analysis also shows potential performance issue papers publishing Malay favorable by increasing the number of citations and h-index in the past five years. . It is hoped that this study will provide a real picture of the publication of the Malay language papers in Scopus and will build awareness among publishers and authors to enhance the publication of the Malay language papers so that the Malay language can be found internationally in comparison with other languages ​​especially
