Islamic Capital Market in Malaysia: Expanding or Shrinking?

This study analyzes the evolution of Islamic Capital Market (ICM) which is considered as an alternative to the conventional capital market in Malaysia. Among the instruments of ICM that are analyzed include Sukuk, Islamic Unit Trust, Real Estate Investment Trusts, Islamic Exchange Traded Funds, Islamic Structured Products and Shariah-Compliant Securities. In addition, the role and contribution of Securities Commission as a catalyst for the evolution of ICM are also been discussed in this study.
