Virtue and vice in law of morality could be determined through reason or religion. In fact, both virtue and vice could be explained through rational and critical thought or religious approach through divine commands and religious practices. Discussions on virtue and vice are focused on Kant’s thoughts which derived from his own works as well as studies on Kant’s works by other scholars. Several research methods were utilized such as inductive method which is used to determine general ideas, while deductive method is used to explain Kant’s views and comparative method is used for comparing Kant’s thought on rational justification of reason with justification of religion. The results of this study found that Kant had given priority to rational justification as compared to religious justification. Rational justification that was accepted by Kant had to fulfill strict requirement in accordance with the concept of “duty” and “priori’. Whereas, on religious justification, minimum requirement was laid out that was acceptable to reasonable mind and in accordance with law of morality.
