Teacher-Student Attachment, and its’ Influence towards Moral Behavior

Teachers play an important role in development of students throughout the formal schooling experience. Most research regarding teacher-student attachment investigates the impact of teachers’ role and attitudes towards students’ academic and social development at all levels of schooling. In general, teachers who support students in the learning environment can positively impact their social and academic outcomes. This study examines the impact of teachers’ attitudes and action towards students’ moral behavior. The data were analyzed by using non-parametric Spearman correlation and descriptive statistic. In general, the findings showed there are four elements of attitudes and action in teacher student relationship that have impact on students’ moral behavior. Two elements of teacher’s attitudes that impact most on students’ moral behavior are warmth and attending student needs. This study suggests that teacher’s role not only to ensure student achievement but also to build moral behavior.
