Abstract

This study explores the phenomenon of intertextuality within religious texts, with a particular focus on the "detail after summarization" (al-tafṣīl baʿda al-ijmāl) mechanism, a critical component of textual coherence in the Quran. The significance of this research lies in its potential to enhance the understanding and interpretation of Quranic texts by elucidating how this mechanism operates to achieve textual harmony. While intertextuality has been extensively studied in Western literary theory, there remains a gap in the exploration of its mechanisms, particularly within the context of religious texts and from the perspective of Arab critics. The research aims to bridge this gap by offering a comprehensive analysis of how the "detail after summarization" (al-tafṣīl baʿda al-ijmāl) mechanism functions within the Quranic discourse, contributing to a clearer and more precise understanding of these texts. Employing a descriptive-analytical methodology, the study first clarifies the concept of intertextuality and its relevance to text linguistics before conducting an in-depth analysis of the Quranic text to demonstrate the practical application of this mechanism. The principal findings indicate that the "detail after summarization" mechanism plays a significant role in achieving textual cohesion and coherence, thereby facilitating a deeper understanding of Quranic meanings. These findings suggest broader implications for the study of intertextuality in religious and literary texts, highlighting the importance of this mechanism in textual analysis across various cultural and linguistic contexts. The study recommends expanding the research scope to include other religious and literary texts, applying a range of analytical approaches to further explore how intertextual mechanisms contribute to textual interpretation. Additionally, it advocates for the development of training programs to deepen scholars' understanding of intertextuality, enhancing their analytical capabilities in literary and critical studies.
