Abstract

Post World War II, the Malays began to figure out how to come together and restore the integrity of the Malay archipelago. Through the Malay Raya struggle they strive to reunite the Malay race as before the colonial era. Colonial era saw the Malay archipelago successfully separated into a number of separate entities. The partisan politics in the Malay Archipelago seek to unite a Malay in a distinctive way. Ibrahim Yaakub, Burhanuddin Al Helmy, Ahmad Ishak Haji Muhammad Boestamam represent Malaya and Indonesia’s Sukarno and Hatta share the same goal. Therefore, this paper tries to expose the struggle- Malay/Indonesia Raya with reference documents and sources of oral history among the people who have been involved in the struggle for the country’s independence from Western colonialism.
