Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan mengenal pasti tahap penglibatan ibu bapa dalam aktiviti membaca dalam kalangan kanak-kanak di TADIKA swasta. Kajian ini berbentuk kajian tinjauan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel kajian melibatkan 83 orang yang terdiri daripada ibu bapa kanak-kanak yang berusia antara 5 hingga 6 tahun. Kajian ini menggunakan soal selidik sebagai instrumen kajian. Hasil kajian dianalisis dengan menggunakan Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) versi 22.  Kajian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif melibatkan nilai kekerapan, min dan peratusan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa tahap penglibatan ibu bapa dalam pendidikan awal kanak-kanak merangkumi aktiviti membaca, berada pada tahap sederhana dengan nilai min >2.331 iaitu Min=2.84, Sp=.366. Justeru, dapatan ini menunjukkan bahawa penglibatan ibu bapa dalam aktiviti membaca perlu ditingkatkan lagi bagi menyokong perkembangan yang holistik dalam diri kanak-kanak. Cadangan untuk kajian lanjutan adalah pelaksanaan kajian terhadap hubungan antara penglibatan ibu bapa dalam aktiviti membaca dengan perkembangan literasi awal kanak-kanak.

This study aims to identify the level of parental involvement in reading activities among children enrolled in private kindergartens. The study adopts a survey design using a quantitative approach. The sample consists of 83 respondents, comprising parents of children aged between 5 and 6 years old. A questionnaire was employed as the research instrument. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. Descriptive analysis was conducted, involving frequencies, mean scores, and percentages. The findings indicate that the level of parental involvement in early childhood education, particularly in reading activities, is at a moderate level, with a mean score exceeding 2.331 (M = 2.84, SD = 0.366). These results suggest that parental involvement in reading activities needs to be further enhanced to support the holistic development of children. Therefore, future research is recommended to examine the relationship between parental involvement in reading activities and children’s early literacy development.
