Abstract

The study has two objectives. First, forming a framework based on the SOLO model (Structure of the Observed Learning Outcome) to characterize the ability to solve algebra through four content domains of Form Four students, one of which is the concept of function. Second, a measurement tool was built based on the framework to evaluate the student algebra solution. The data were collected through clinical interviewing techniques. The subjects were nine Form Four students. The validity of measurement tools has been determined by the rigorous assessor and the results of this study. The findings have identified five stages of the algebraic solving ability of students in completing the task function concept.
