Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the vocabularies in Arabic language text books for years three, four and five in terms of suitability for the level. It also seeks to explain the theoretical basis and the selection of vocabulary in language learning in general and specifically Arabic. This study is a quantitative study in which data were collected from three of these textbooks were analyzed by frequency and density vocabulary. In addition, the library also conducted a study to describe the criteria for selection of appropriate vocabulary for students. The findings indicate that the Arabic text book five years have the lowest density index of 1: 5.74. This means that students will meet with the new words in each approximately six words were read. In terms of the repetition of the word in the book is too low. Students will meet regularly with new words. This also implies that the book is difficult for students to recall learned vocabulary. Arabic language textbooks for three and four years respectively has an index of 1: 6.95 and 1: 6.37. This means the index for the second book is also too low and almost the same Arabic language text book five years. Density index using the word if in aggregate for all the words in all the books that were studied has an index of 1: 8.64. This means that students will meet with new words for each approximately 9 words learned. This situation is also difficult for students in remembering vocabulary learned. The research also identified the criteria for selection of appropriate vocabulary in the textbook. The first criterion is, the vocabulary is easily obtained. Second, short vocabulary.
