Abstract

This study is to investigate aspect of teachers’ knowledge and aspect of teachers' concern towards the implementation of Primary School Standard Curriculum (KSSR) and also identify whether teaching experience have an impact on aspects of teachers’ knowledge and aspect of teachers’ concern towards the implementation of KSSR. The research sample for this study was determined by randomly sampling method and is comprised of 200 primary schools’ standard two teachers who implemented the KSSR in the primary schools which are located in the district of Kerian, Perak. Five stages likert scale questionnaires were administered to obtain the required data. Descriptive statistics which included mean, median, mode, standard deviation, maximum values and minimum values were used to analyse the data. Besides this, statistical inference methods which included correlation test and one-way ANOVA test were also used in this study to analyse the data. The results showed that teachers’ knowledge towards the implementation of KSSR was at a high level. While the teachers’ concerns towards the implementation of KSSR was only at a moderate level. The findings also showed that there was no statistically significant correlation between teachers’ knowledge and teachers’ concern towards the implementation of KSSR and there was also no statistically significant difference between teachers’ knowledge and teachers’ concern towards the implementation of KSSR with all categories of teaching experience. This study can give confidence, guidance and awareness to various authorities, including the Ministry of Education, the State Education Department, the District Education Office, the school administrators, the parents and also the teachers themselves about the aspects of teachers’ knowledge and the aspects of teachers’ concern towards the implementation of KSSR. Proper actions should be taken through the findings of this study so that can achieve excellence in execution the KSSR.
