Abstract

The current Special Education Program offers religious education opportunities to Students with Special Needs. The importance of study of Al-Quran among children with visual impairment, especially in Al-Quran Braille, has somehow often been neglected. This study aims to identify the ability of Students with Special Needs in learning Al-Quran Braille. Therefore, this study reveals the importance of using current assistive technology in teaching students with visual impairment in Al-Quran Braille. Several aspects in Quran learning technology in braille system were identified by the researchers. The main objective of this study is to identify the roles of technology in improving the level of achievement in learning Al-Quran Braille among students with special needs specifically for those with visual impairment. Researchers also disclose how teachers use assistive technology in teaching with visual impairment. Quantitative method was used in this study by using Instruments to collect data and assess the level of ability in learning Al-Quran Braille. The findings of this research revealed the importance of using different assistive technology in teaching with visual impairment, in improving the level of achievement especially in recognizing Hijaiyah letters and its diacritical marks for students who have not fully mastered these aspects in the Quran, through the Braille Quran system.
