Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan mengenal pasti penggunaan gajet terhadap perkembangan kanak-kanak prasekolah. Seramai 65 orang ibu bapa yang mempunyai anak berusia lima dan enam tahun telah menjadi responden kajian. Kajian dijalankan merupakan kaedah tinjauan yang menggunakan soal selidik untuk melihat jenis gajet yang sering digunakan oleh kanak-kanak, tempoh masa penggunaan gajet dan kesan penggunaan gajet terhadap perkembangan kanak-kanak prasekolah. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan telefon bimbit merupakan jenis gajet yang menjadi pilihan utama kanak-kanak untuk menonton kartun dan bermain ‘game’. Selain itu, tempoh masa penggunaan gajet dalam kalangan kanak-kanak juga melebihi tempoh masa yang disarankan oleh pakar. Kajian juga mendapati penggunaan gajet memberi impak kepada aspek perkembangan sosial dan emosi serta menjejaskan tahap penglihatan mereka kanak-kanak. Kesimpulannya, gaya didikan ibu bapa sangat penting dalam mengatasi isu penggunaan gajet berlebihan dalam kalangan kanak-kanak. Implikasi kajian ini dapat memberi kesedaran kepada ibu bapa terhadap kesan penggunaan gajet yang berlebihan dalam kalangan kanak-kanak.

This study aims to identify the use of gadgets on the development of preschool children. A total of 65 parents with children aged five and six have been survey respondents. The study conducted is a survey method that uses a questionnaire to see the types of gadgets that are often used by children, the time period of gadget use and the impact of gadget use on the development of preschool children. Findings show that mobile phones are a type of gadget that is the main choice of children to watch cartoons and play games. In addition, the time period for the use of gadgets among children also exceeds the time period recommended by experts. Studies have also found that the effects of the use of gadgets have an impact on aspects of social and emotional development as well as affect their visual level of children. In conclusion, parenting style is very important in reducing the use of excessive gadgets among children. Implications of the study can provide awareness to parents on the effects of excessive use of gadgets among children.
