Abstract

Artikel ini menumpukan penelitian terhadap cerita-cerita rakyat Melayu yang diperoleh menerusi penglipur lara negeri Johor iaitu Penglipur lara Ali Badron bin Haji Sabor. Fokus penulisan artikel ini adalah berkaitan dengan world-view dan sistem politik masyarakat Melayu. Keseluruhan penelitian ini bersandar kepada aspek world-view yang merupakan kesatuan kepada tradisi nilai dan budaya bagi sesebuah masyarakat. Ia dikenal pasti menerusi perlakuan individu atau ahli masyarakatnya yang digambarkan menerusi watak dan perwatakan dalam cerita rakyat Melayu. Penulisan ini turut merungkai world-view dan sistem politik masyarakat Melayu yang menjurus kepada penjelasan mengenai stratifikasi tertinggi iaitu raja. Raja adalah ketua yang memerintah sesebuah negeri atau negara, diikuti oleh para pembesar yang membantu raja mentadbir negeri atau negara, manakala rakyat jelata pula merupakan paling rendah kedudukannya dalam hierarki sosial. Penulisan artikel ini diharapkan dapat memaparkan hubung kait ketamadunan tradisional dengan pembinaan negara moden. Penyampaian cerita rakyat Melayu oleh penglipur lara atau tukang cerita berupaya membawa khalayak memahami kepentingan raja dalam sesebuah negara, tugas para pembesar dan kedudukan rakyat jelata sebagai golongan terendah dalam hierarki sosial.

 

This article focuses on Malay folklores obtained through the Johor’s storyteller, Ali Badron bin Haji Sabor. The focus of writing of this article is related to the view of nature and political system of the Malay community. The entire study was based on the aspects of nature that is the union of views to traditional values and culture of a society. It is identified through the conduct of individuals or society that is portrayed through the characters and personalities in the Malay folklores. This article also dismantles the view of nature and the Malay political system leading to an explanation of the highest stratification which is the king. The king is the head of the ruling of a state or country, followed by the chiefs who help the king to govern a state or country. Meanwhile, the common people are the lowest position in the social hierarchy. This article is trying to elucidate the relationship of traditional civilization with the modern nation-building. Presentation of the Malay folklore by a storyteller is able to bring the audience to understand the importance of the king in a country, the chiefs’ duty, and the position of the common people as the lowest in the social hierarchy.
