Abstract

Industri fesyen sedang berkembang pesat dan semakin mendapat tempat di kalangan masyarakat. Bidang ini juga dilihat mampu menghasilkan pendapatan melalui keusahawanan samada skala kecil atau besar. Justeru itu, latihan kemahiran fesyen telah diterapkan di peringkat sekolah seawal menengah rendah menerusi subjek Reka Bentuk Teknologi bagi menyediakan lebih ramai tenaga mahir dalam bidang ini. Namun, disebalik kepentingan bidang ini, ianya tetap kurang mendapat sambutan di kalangan pelajar dengan pencapaian yang rendah bagi subjek ini selain kekurangan bahan bantu mengajar di peringkat sekolah. Pelbagai usaha pembangunan giat dijalankan oleh pihak kerajaan untuk memastikan bidang fesyen tidak ketinggalan. Oleh itu, satu kajian awal dijalankan bagi meneroka cabaran dalam pengajaran subjek Reka Bentuk Fesyen di sekolah dari sudut pandangan guru. Kajian yang dijalankan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Tiga orang peserta kajian yang merupakan guru berpengalaman dalam pengajaran subjek Reka Bentuk Teknologi dipilih dengan menggunakan kaedah persampelan bertujuan. Hasil temubual dianalisis menggunakan kaedah analisis bertema. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan cabaran yang dihadapi oleh guru datang dari dua sudut yang berbeza iaitu cabaran minat pelajar yang rendah dan kekurangan bahan bantu mengajar khusus bagi subjek Reka Bentuk Fesyen. Kedua cabaran ini dilihat menjadi faktor utama bagi guru dalam meningkatkan pencapaian subjek Reka Bentuk Fesyen di kalangan pelajar di sekolah menengah. Melalui dapatan ini, perancangan untuk menambah baik subjek ini dapat dijalankan di pelbagai peringkat. Ianya juga diharap dapat memberi gambaran awal kepada kajian yang lebih mendalam pada masa hadapan.
