Abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the use of the interactive whiteboard to enhance proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia among Year 3 pupils. The quantitative method used to undertake this study. Quantitative methods in the form of quasi experiment to assess the effectiveness of the use of the interactive whiteboard to enhance proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia among Year 3 pupils. Selection of study subjects randomly conducted involving 40 pupils who are reach a decision marks between 50% to 69% in Bahasa Malaysia in the final examination in 2015 in a Chinese school in area Pasir Gudang. The subjects consisted of 20 pupils in experimental group and 20 pupils in control group. Written test set is used as an instrument. Data were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 22.0. The results showed that the use of interactive whiteboards in the teaching and learning can enhance proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia among Year 3 pupils significantly compared to conventional methods. Thus, schools have started to be more proactive to ensure that every classroom is equipped with interactive whiteboards and ensure that teachers use it in teaching.
