Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the learning satisfaction among year 3 pupils through the utilisation of interactive whiteboard in teaching and learning of Bahasa Melayu. This study will examine the perceptions of students and teachers to use interactive whiteboards in teaching Bahasa Melayu. Qualitative approach was used for this study. A number of 15 Chinese pupils and two teachers teaching Bahasa Melayu year 3 were chosen using purposive sampling methods as participants. This study location is in a SJK (C) in area Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru.Data was collected and analysed through means of structured observation using checklist and semi-structured interview. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The findings showed that pupils are satisfied towards the application of interactive whiteboard in teaching and learning process. The application of interactive whiteboard in class lets pupils to learn in an enjoyful learning environment. The findings also showed that teachers also had positive perceptions towards the application of interactive whiteboard in teaching and learning of Bahasa Melayu year 3. Teachers agree that pupils feel happy and fun while teaching using interactive whiteboards in the classroom. Teachers said that the use of technology in the workplace will improve the quality of work and productivity. Thus, the use of the interactive whiteboard should be extended to all schools and teachers should be given training in its use.
