Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Brain-Based Teaching Approach in improving students’ learning motivation towards science subjects (by focusing on the Concept and Mechanism of Photosynthesis in Form Four Biology syllabus). A sample of 140 students from two Chinese schools in Penang, Malaysia was involved in this quasi-experimental study. Data obtained through the administration of the Questionnaire of Science Learning Motivation were then analyzed descriptively and inferentially, using independent samples t-tests. Results showed that the Brain Based Teaching Approach was effective in improving students’ science learning motivation. It was found that students who followed the Brain Based Teaching Approach possessed a better science learning motivation compared to students who received conventional teaching method.
