EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EI) AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF UNIVERSITI PENDIDIKAN SULTAN IDRIS AMINUDDIN BAKI COLLEGE AND ZA'BA COLLEGE STUDENTS (61 - 74)

The main purpose of this study was to examine the relationship Emotional Intelligence (EI) on academic achievement among Aminuddin Baki College(KAB) and Zaaba College (KZ) Sultan Idris Education Universiti (UPSI) Tanjung Malim, Perak. Second, this study wanted to see the interaction and contribution of the four dimensions contained in the EI of self-consciousness, self-management, social awareness and social skills for academic achievement. This is a survey using a questionnaire. The sample consisted of 315 students of two colleges of KAB and KZ UPSI in Tanjung Malim Perak. Measurement instruments Emotional Competence Inventory (ECI) is used to measure EI and questionnaires to measure the academic achievement of students’ academic achievement. The finding by Pearson correlation analysis showed EI do not have a positive and significant relationship with academic achievement. Through regression analysis, this study showed that there was no significant interaction effect in four dimensions EI academic achievement. In conclusion, this study showed that the variables EI unable to play an important role in influencing academic achievement and KZ inmates KAB. This indicates that there are other factors in the environment and the individual itself in power in determining the academic performance and KZ inmates KAB
