Abstract

A needs analysis should be carried out for any product development to ensure that the product produced met the needs of its users. This study was conducted to review the teachers’ knowledge related to the Neoteric approach that applies the learning method of integrating subjects also analyzing the needs and methods required in the development of the Mathematics Neoteric Learning Module in Fractions and Money for first year students. The study was carried out by a quantitative approach using a questionnaire instrument. The sample size of these study were 37 teachers those selected randomly among teachers who teach Mathematics, Physical Education or Music Education in the first year. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency and percentage. The survey shows that teachers' knowledge of the Neoteric approach is very weak, with only 16.2% of respondents saying they know about these Neoteric approach concepts. However, the majority of teachers agreed on the needs to develop a Neoteric Learning Module that integrates the subjects of Physical Education and Music with Mathematics (73.0%). The results of this study also shows that a Neoteric Learning Module needs to be developed for the topic of Fractions and Money for first year students. This needs analysis also gives an overview for a suitable and appropriate learning methods that can be used in the development of the module.
