Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti gaya kepimpinan yang diamalkan oleh pengetua daripada persepsi guru serta hubungannya dengan keberkesanan sekolah. Seramai 260 guru dipilih secara persampelan rawak daripada sekolah-sekolah menengah di daerah Samarahan, Sarawak untuk menjawab soal selidik. Analisis data melibatkan statistik deskriptif, ujian-t dan korelasi. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan pengetua sekolah lebih cenderung mengamalkan gaya kepimpinan berorientasikan kejayaan daripada gaya mengarah, penyertaan dan timbang rasa. Hasil kajian juga menunjukkan terdapat perbezaan tahap dimensi gaya kepimpinan pengetua mengikut tahap keberkesanan sekolah. Hasil perbandingan skor min gaya kepimpinan dengan skor SKPM mendapati terdapat hubungann tinggi dan signifikan antara gaya kepimpinan dengan keberkesanan sekolah. Cadangan penambahbaikan dan peningkatan kualiti kepimpinan pengetua turut disarankan.

 

This study aims to identify the leadership style practiced by principals from teachers’ perception and its relationship to school effectiveness. Questionnaires were used to collect data. A total of 260 teachers were randomly selected from secondary schools in Samarahan District, Sarawak. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, t-test and correlation. The results showed that principals are more likely to adopt success-oriented leadership style rather than directive style, participatory and considerate. The results also showed significant differences in the dimensions of leadership style according to the effectiveness of the school. The comparison between the mean scores of leadership style and SQEM scores is found to have a high and significant relationship. Suggestions for improvement
and enhancement of the quality of leadership are also recommended.
