Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate virtual laboratory (Nora VLab) based multimedia application for implementing the science process skills among students. There are three objectives of this study namely developed software virtual laboratory (Nora VLab) in the sub title of “Density”, examines the usability of software Nora VLab in the process of teaching and learning and its ability to apply science process skills in Science among students. ADDIE instructional design model was used in the process of developing the Nora VLab. The study consisted of three phases. The first phase of the studywas to collect information on the difficulty and its frequency for the topic of “Density” that based on the Science syllabus. The second phase of the study is to develop software Nora VLab. The composition of the concepts and skills in the software were based on the Theory of Cognitivism, Theory of Constructivism and Theory of Contextual. Macromedia Flash program was used in the development of Nora VLab. The third phase is to assess the usability of the software developed which involving eight experts. Data were collected by using the checklist. This research has produced software Nora VLab that can help students conduct experiments like as in a real laboratory. Contextual and simulation approaches, with the help of visual and audio are used in Nora VLab and its have been proven can integrate the science process skills among students. Nora VLab definitely makes learning of Science more interesting.
